About
Nina Tuxbury is a recent graduate of the Purchase College film conservatory. She grew up in upstate New York with her parents, her younger sister, and several cats. She is drawn to telling stories about interpersonal relationships in families with a focus on grief, loss, and the LGBTQ+ community.
Nina often works in the camera department as 1st AC, 2nd AC, and camera OP. She has extensive experience with focus pulling, setting up shots, building cameras, and troubleshooting technical problems. She gained experience in the Purchase film conservatory collaborating with other students as both director of photography and 1st AC on numerous short films and projects. Since then, her experience has expanded as she works professionally on feature films, commercial work, and public television in the camera department.
Additionally, she has found a calling in post-production, with an interest in assistant editing. Nina is highly organized and technologically astute when it comes to the post-production workflow with various editing programs. Her first love is Avid Media Composer, but Nina is skilled in Premiere Pro and does color correction in Davinci Resolve, as well. Her strong creative eye aids her organizational and technological skills as she collaborates with directors and editors with the aim of serving the story, characters, and themes of each piece she works on.
Along with her interest in post-production, Nina strives to foster an accessible environment in film. Throughout her time at Purchase College, Nina advocated for open captions for her class’s end of year screenings which resulted in accessible screenings for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals in attendance. Nina plans to continue this advocacy post-graduation.
